I do not have enough experience with reference monitors to be able to provide an expert comparative analysis. I do know good sound when I hear it. The MR5MK2II speakers have excellent balance across the entire sound spectrum. I was most impressed with the depth. Only a good quality speaker will provide that three dimensional sound that gives you the impression you're in the room with the musicians.The construction seems very solid and I love that there are many input types, so just about any cabling system will work. Neither of mine were DOA and I haven't had them long enough yet to comment on durability.It might have been nice if the power switches were on the front.
